On a holiday.

Hello friends,
How is your holiday?
I've been out of the country and enjoying my holidays so far.
Just wanted to greet everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Going to start doodling back again once I'm back.
Thanks for visiting my blog :D
Happy Holidays!

Commisions for a friend.

Hi all!
I'm quite happy I finished my big presentation today on my 3 piece (shirt, pants, vest project).
So relieved, I can finally sigh.
I've been working for illustrations for a friend. Just finished them today and I think it was quite swell.
Its about her and two of her friends and their characteristics & personalities. Of course, fashionable.
Hope you like it. Cheers!

1, she loves the spotlight
2, she loves her messy artsy room
3, she loves to read and has tons of ideas

Weekend inspirational quotes 18.

Do not spoil what you have by desiring what you have not;
remember that what you now have was once among the things you only hoped for.
The creative is the place where no one else has ever been.
You have to leave the city of your comfort and go into the wilderness of your intuition.
What you’ll discover will be wonderful. What you’ll discover is yourself.
Alan Alda
Success is not the result of spontaneous combustion. You must first set yourself on fire.

Modern Barong Tagalog.

Hello,  how is everyone?
I'm back from a long dreadful week. And I got some sleep too :D
In a weekend I had to finish these 3 outfits and I feel like I'm in Project Runway already because of the limited time.
Hehe, it's a shirt, pants and vest.
The shirt was based from the traditional Barong Tagalog of the country Philippines, made into contemporary.
So basically its see through. I'm also in love with all things stripes and plaid.
There might be a fashion show so I hope to post some pics of it.
Btw, just posted a new xmas header! Eek, its not sized properly though.
Hope everyone is excited for xmas. I am! :D
Good day!

The class is a mess full of fabrics

Hello there,
Been on hiatus for a while now which will extend for a whole week.
Its a busy week in uni again I've been getting sick because of too much work..
I'm making a shirt, pants and vest in one weekend. God bless me :(
Promise to get back on doodling asap.
Btw, wishing everyone Selamat Hari Raya Idul Adha and Happy Thanksgiving too!
Here's a little quick old doodle.

Doodling Jakarta fashion week 2009.

Hi friends! How's your monday? :D
I've been so busy lately and sleeping late that my eyebags are starting to get darker. Oh noess..
I know it's quite late but I'm posting some quick doodle illustrations about the fashion week.
I think Im enjoying these quick illustrations.
As I said, I was going to doodle some stuff from the show. Saw many fashionable people around.
Pardon my memory I couldn't remember all their outfits. Hehe ;p
What a fashionable gay couple on the right sitting across where I was watching,
I couldn’t help but illustrate them.
So is the man on the left with his fedora and printed scarf.
At the front row.
My alumni friend at the most left with his friend wearing a black dress holding a fur bolero.
I think that woman in red dressed so elegant with great poise that she stood out.
Oh, this was my friend and I standing at the center.
She's wearing a dress with high heel wedges and me with a skirt and black ankle boots.
Cheers everyone!

JFW 09/10, ESMOD alumni.

Differing from the traditionally conservative muslim wear,
these collections from ESMOD Alumni were more expressive and lively in the pieces.
Each of the collections showed some personality in the designs.
There was a touch Indonesia's traditional culture in some of the designs - beadwork, embroideries and great detailing. Some ready-to-wear, some couture-like.
Imelda Kartini.
She has a flair for creating creative fabrics.
Poppy Karim.
Kebaya dresses. Traditionally beautiful.
Albert Yanuar.
His collections were colorful and lively.
Sapto Djojokartiko.
Crowd pleaser collection with heels free footwear like Nina Ricci.
This reminds me of one of Maison Martin Margiella's collections. Hmm..
Sisca Chandra, Paperdolls.
Chic like the 20s/30s, draperies with chiffon.
Evelyn Fransisca "Roxanne".
Great contrast on power looks and soft drapery.
R. Sapta Dharma "One Piece Pattern Power"
Imagine just one pattern turned into a dress, great.
He's our pattern teacher in ESMOD.

JFW 09/10, Muslimwear show.

I've found some well dressed people around.

Hi all, its Jakarta Fashion Week!
The whole week is full of fashion shows to attend to.
Lucky me I got free tickets to some shows BUT only to find myself short on time.
I was supposed to watch 2 shows on Tuesday because I wanted to watch the traditional Indonesian Kebaya costume but the shows were in such delay. I got to watch the muslim wear instead.

Overall, I think the collections were nice and wearable.
There were alot of chiffon fabrics used in a variety of colours, embroidery detailing and traditional motifs accented here and there.
I'm not very familiar with muslim wear but I appreciate it, there were some traditional pieces that were nice.

The stage.
Jeny Tjayawati "Matryoshka"
Ida Royani. Nice and traditional.
 Hennie Hananto "Benji Maji"
Monika Jufry "The Eclectic Batavia". I like the wrap arounds.
Interesting cutting.
Anne Rufaidah "Lost in Space"

Weekend inspirational quotes 17.

It’s hard to go with a trend. As soon as it’s out, everyone picks it up. It’s important to stay true to yourself.
Have fun with fashion instead of letting it dictate.

Jakarta Fashion Week 09/10, to go or not.

Hello, how is weekend so far?
Hope everyone's having a relaxing one. I always enjoy saturdays because its art classes.
Anyways, Jakarta is hosting their very first Jakarta Fashion Week 09/10 here in Indonesia and it will be a big event. It is finally happening :D
Ive got two free passes on a fashion show, one show for my school's alumni fashion show and the other one for Indonesian designers.
However, there are two deadlines to catch this coming Thursday.
So confused whether I should go or not, though its a tempting offer and a great event to doodle on too.
Owh, I can't decide.

Come around.

The Coco look.

The Coco look.
I just watched the movie, "Coco Chanel" (the old version) and I enjoyed it so much.
It's a great inspiration for everyone and Coco has the best quotes ever.
In fact, I was inspired by her short hair look when she was young in the film. Hence the Coco look.
Love that hair.
Shirley: In this world, men makes the rules. We women must rely on our charms and looks for pleasing our man.
Coco: Looks fade.
Shirley: I suggest you take advantage when it last, like I did. I've been a dancer, I've been an artist model. And I called the King of Belgium, Leo.
Coco: I didn't have to be a dancer or a model. When I had nowhere to go, I found a job.
If I've allowed myself to be supported by Etienne, it's not by his money.
Shirley: And when leaves you?
Coco: If that were to happen, I'd survive. I've made love before.

The infamous Burberry trench.

Fall in love with the new mini site of Burberry's Art of the trench, celebrating their iconic trencoat.
Creative Director of Burberry, Christopher Bailey, had collaborated with Scott Schuman of The Sartorialist to create a snapshot collection of real-life people on the streets wearing the infamous trenchcoat. The best part is, that you can even submit your own trench. Background soundtrack is by The Kooks.
I love!

A designer is only as good as the star who wears her clothes.

Contribution to BalladOf.

How it feels so free to just walk barefoot on fresh grass :D
These 2 girls in their tutus are surely doing it with their tutus and colored tights.
Speaking of, pardon my absence because I've been catching up on a deadline which was due today.
It has been draining all my energy to do my daily illustrations. How it feels so relieving now.

Anyways, I received a package today from Balladof today.
I was surprised because I never expected they would continue to send it since shipping was expensive.
Or perhaps, somebody else sent it to me? Confused.
As you know, BalladOf is a new UK-based magazine founded by Lindsey and Claire
where they collect a community of emerging and exciting artists around.
Not to mention that these people were so friendly to talk to.
Currently they just launched their 2nd newest issue, BalladOf Tommy Lane.
I'm so glad to have an opportunity be a part of it and illustrate a small style piece for them :D
It was my first contribution to a magazine so I was excited to see it.
Please do stop by their site to them out if you have the chance :D
Finally :D
Hope you have a nice day.

Girls night out.

Girls night out.
A Kate Moss inspired outfit from the costume gala,
a ruffled Marchesa dress,
a Balmain tailor or simply a ruffled top.

Wonder what's everyone dressing up for Halloween..
Maybe a traditional costume or some fashion icon perhaps.
One more day left for the day :D

Glamour girls.

There's always that grand event to attend to.
Dressed up and ready to go.

Here are my glamour watercolour girls. The same ones that are in "Couture".
The left one loves toned down dresses while the other prefers avante-garde costumes.
They just love to dress fierce for every glamourous occassions they attend to.
Work has been piling up these days but they don't botther me as much as before. Just enjoying it.
Like as a quote I was inspired with, "Be the best at each moment, so that each day becomes the best."
Hope everyone else is doing good these days.
Have a nice day!

Weekend inspirational quotes 14.

He waited for other people to understand what he was doing, instead of doing what they wanted. Balenciaga never compromised.
A lot of fashion houses design for the catwalk and not the street—then you see the clothes on a regular guy and it's a mess. Don't disguise your personality behind labels; impose it on the clothes.
Kris Van Asst.
My grandmother told me there are two ways of living: You can either survive or you can really make a life. There is eating and there is dining. She would always give that extra little effort, and I still believe that is important—to make things more beautiful makes all the difference.
Kris Van Aasche

Daydream the froyos.

Here's the watercolour girl in her thoughts, daydreaming.
It's weekend again. Weekends are usually fun because there is choir practice at home and the house is always full of people. It's always nice to have friends and family friends around.
Ate some Sour Sally froyos with Bff after my art class. How I miss those froyos I've been craving for!
I don't know if they have lots of them outside Indonesia but frozen yogurts are popular here for sure,
Sour Sally, Heavenly Blush, Red Mango, etc... Yumm :D
Oh, here's a sneak peak of my student's work. She took the picture herself to paint.
Too cute!
Leah, 11yo.

Cheap and cheerful.

 Why wait?

Managed to make a men shirt in one day, yay! Talk about project runway-ish.
Didn't get to take pics but next time though.
I now can make clothes for my bro and dad. Ha, they shall be my model for experimenting.
Tomorrow is tie :D Its a pretty exhausting week but then I remember what teacher said,
"It's fashion, you're always going to be busy."
Right now I'm so addicted to this song, The Kills - Cheap and Cheerful.
Helps me keep my mood up.
I wonder hows everybody's week going..having a nice weekday perhaps?
Good day all, tomorrow's TGIF :D

About half my designs are controlled fantasy, 15 percent are total madness and the rest are bread-and-butter designs.
Manolo Blahnik
The goal I seek is to have people refine their style through my clothing without having them become victims of fashion.
